Newly Manufactured ATMs not fully ADA Compliant?
As an IAD/ISO owner the new ADA regulations in regards to ATMs is not that straight forward. It is important to carefully review the information put out by the DOJ. I have attached link for review. I carefully read the information from our distributor of ATMs and thought we had a good solid plan in place for upgrading and replacing.
However after careful review of the DOJ requirements I have come to realize that newly manufactured ATMs are not meeting all of the DOJ requirements. For example, the newly manufactured Hyosung models are missing the required specific braille instruction. Additionally, there is no sticker provided by the manufacture with the braille instruction.
We were going to move to another manufacture and they were missing another key component to be ADA compliant. We have found a solution by ordering Triton braille stickers for our brand new Hyosungs in order for them to meet the new ADA requirements.
This is alarming that the manufactures don’t seem to have a set plan in place and this could be a potential nightmare for all ATM deployers. This could easily be the “EFTA sticker litigation of 2012.” Please review the following link carefully and make sure all new units deployed are ADA compliant.
